CAMPBELL POWERS OFFENSE IN RED ELEVEN ROUT
Montana forward nets hat trick in 6-0 win over London

LISLE, Ill. (June 25, 2010) – Sarah Campbell finished with a hat trick to propel the Chicago Red Eleven to a decisive 6-0 win over the London Gryphons Friday evening on the campus of Benedictine University.

Chicago tallied three goals in each half to remain unbeaten on the year at 5-0-2, as well as all-time at Benedictine (9-0-2). The Gryphons fell to 1-5-2 on the year.

Kate Megna tallied what proved to be the game-winner in the 12th minute after an initial Red Eleven attack off a corner kick was cleared away by the London defense. Fanta Cooper played the ball into the corner where Megna was unmarked and she beat the keeper from just outside the six-yard box.

Campbell then put the game out of reach with three consecutive goals. Her first may have been the most impressive as she dribbled into traffic at the top of the box, executed a spin move and emerged inside the penalty area alone. She found herself alone with the keeper and finished far post.

That score made it 2-0 after 18 minutes. In the 34th minute, Krystin Miller played a through ball that sprung Campbell and she completed the breakaway handily to stake Chicago to a 3-0 halftime lead. She started the second half the same way, finishing a cross from Julia Victor in the 50th minute.

The CRE bench then got into the scoring act, when Keli McLaughlin got on the board in the 63rd minute. Her goal came off a 40-yard free kick from Victor, the set piece that stopped play and allowed her to enter the game. Monica Dolinsky capped the scoring in the 82nd minute, just four minutes after entering the game, off an assist from Lindsey Page, another substitute.

Chicago dictated the momentum of the match throughout. Early in the match, the Red Eleven created scoring opportunities at will, while still controlling the pace of play late in the match when fatigue set in on both sides. CRE outshot London, 16-5, but was flagged for offsides 12 times.

Erin Kane was called on to make just one save for her fourth win and fourth shutout of the season. Her counterpart, Sarah Foriani, made three saves and was helped by the cross bar on a Red Eleven shot late in regulation.

CRE returns to action Saturday, hosting the Buffalo Flash in its regular season home finale. The Red Eleven lead the Midwest Division by one point over the Flash (17-14), with Buffalo having a game in hand. The teams kick off at 7 p.m. at Benedictine.
