Two Red Eleven players named to All-Central Conference squad
Davison & Jeffers receive accolades after guiding Chicago to playoff berth

Chicago Red Eleven midfielder Gemma Davison and defender Jenny Jeffers have both been named to the W-League’s All-Central Conference squad, it was announced Wednesday. CRE had a stellar inaugural season in 2009 with a record of 10-2-1 overall, a second place finish in the Midwest Division of the Central Conference and a berth in the W-League playoffs.

Davison, a native of London, England, was selected after tallying six goals and two assists in just eight games for Chicago during the regular season. Davison joined the club in time for the second game of the year and also missed three matches while playing for the English national team.

Jeffers - a Lake Zurich, Illinois native who played collegiate soccer at Tennessee - was the mainstay of the Red Eleven defense that posted nine shutouts and a goals against average of just 0.57 during the regular season to key the team’s playoff bid. Jeffers was the only Chicago player to appear in all 13 of the team’s contests (1,131 minutes) in 2009.  She did manage one goal, as well.

"I am very proud of both of these young women," said Red Eleven head coach Tony Anglin. "They both worked very hard and were great team players who contributed heavily to our being involved in the W-League playoffs. This was a well-deserved award for each of them."
